Hawaii officials have reportedly been urging residents to prepare for a nuclear attack, the stunning plea coming amid increasingly unnerving rhetoric — and actions — from North Korea.
Aloha State authorities were working to educate and prepare residents for a possible atomic attack by telling them to consider preparing in the same way they’d prep for a tsunami, the Washington Post reported.
“Now it’s time to take it seriously,” Hawaii state Rep. Gene Ward, a Republican, said, “not to be an alarmist, but to be informing people.”
North Korea’s foreign minister has said the Communist nation may test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean after dictator Kim Jong-un vowed he would take the “highest-level” action against the United States, South Korean media reported Thursday.
I got the above excerpted text from a Fox News article that was posted on September the 22nd. And while I can understand the concern that folks, living on an island that’s just 4,600 miles from Korea, might have I still think they might be just a wee be paranoid…
The fact is that China’s central bank is now advising the Chinese government not to do business with the North. That action, when seen in conjunction with United Nation’s sanctions, will virtually guarantee that living conditions in Kim’s little empire are about to go from bad to impossible. And sure, the ‘Rocket Man’ might just go off the deep end and launch a missile or two. But, I seriously doubt his ICBM’s will work at that range. The problem being that they have yet to figure out how to do the atmospheric re-entry of a warhead without it burning up. If true, that would severely limit many otherwise insane options.
My best guess would be an attack on South Korea of such an intensity that it would overwhelm their defenses. The death toll could be massive. The problem with that approach being that China may intervene on behalf of the rest of the world and utterly crush Kim and is little band of nuthatch cronies.
